We'll also draw inspiration from successful individuals who have triumphed over these feelings of inadequacy. What is Imposter Syndrome? Imposter Syndrome, first coined by psychologists Pauline Clance and Suzanne Imes in 1978, refers to a persistent feeling of self-doubt and the belief that one's success is merely due to luck or external factors rather than one's skills or abilities.
